Culinary Arts

Turn Your Passion for Food Into a Future.

The future of culinary education is at Sturgis High School.

Opening in September, our new $1+ million, state-of-the-art Culinary Lab will give students the opportunity to learn inside a fully equipped commercial kitchen, right here at Sturgis High School. Designed to bring the professional culinary experience into the classroom, the lab will provide students with hands-on opportunities to develop real skills using the equipment, techniques, and processes found in today's food service and hospitality industry.

Whether students dream of becoming a chef, owning a restaurant, pursuing hospitality or food service management, continuing into a culinary program, or simply discovering a passion they didn't know they had, the SHS Culinary Lab will give them an extraordinary place to start.

This isn't just a new classroom. It's a professional kitchen built for the next generation.

Culinary Arts Start Here

Students will develop practical culinary and hospitality skills through hands-on learning in a professional kitchen environment. From preparing food to understanding the business behind it, students will gain experience they can take directly into college or a career.

Learn from Professionals

The Culinary Lab connects students with professionals who know what it takes to succeed in today's food service and hospitality industry. Through Sturgis Public Schools' partnership with Taher Food Service and other culinary professionals, students will have opportunities to learn beyond the traditional classroom.

Industry chefs bring their experience directly to students through demonstrations, hands-on instruction, special projects, and conversations about careers in the field, giving students the opportunity to see professional techniques in action, make industry connections, and discover the many career paths available within culinary arts and hospitality.

It's more than learning how to cook. It's an opportunity to learn alongside the people who have made culinary arts their career.
